The environmental impact of paper is significant, which has led to changes in industry and behaviour at both business and personal levels. According to a Canadian citizens organisation, it has been estimated that by 2020 paper mills will produce almost 500,000,000 tons of paper and paperboard per year, so great efforts are needed to ensure that the environment is protected during the production, use and recycling/disposal of this enormous volume of material. The question is no longer ‘what did you do 10 years ago?’ but ‘what are you going to do moving forward?’ And that question is only going to get louder. We need to live peacefully with the environment.
